“Lawrence’s LK Ultra! is staging a coup against discriminatory injustice in their freshly released single “Pussy Hat”. Written in 2018, the track sends an ever-relevant message -- Trans women matter! Trans women belong.
Armed with post-punk perfection, this single embodies the youth-led revolution to make the music scene a more inclusive space. Complete with head-banging ear-snagging unwavering devotion, it’s A-1 hardcore hooks call for progress. Voicing change, poignant lyrics make it known there’s no need for the cis seal of approval shouting “we're not gonna read your blog about what you think a woman should be.” Trans women are women.
Need another reason to listen? LK Ultra! is giving all Bandcamp profits to Black-led organizations for trans women. Half of the proceeds will be going directly back to local Black trans women while the remainder will be allocated to the KC Anti-Violence Project and the Marsha P. Johnson Institute.
