Ramona & The Phantoms - "Bisou"
Ramona and the Phantoms. - “Bisou”
Tulsa’s grunge-pop queen Ramona & The Phantoms—the solo project of musician/songwriter Kylie Rusk—drops their latest video “Bisou” on January 14th, a single from their upcoming album Marmalade & Blood. Self-described as ‘music to get sad to,’ “Bisou” feels like a homemade VHS tape recording featuring a red ribbed turtleneck starlet and a soft spooky vocal melody with cool weirdo vibes. *insert cute ghost emoji*
“Bisou” is a combination of Halloween/Valentine's poem in song form. The guitar tremolo and haunting sleigh bells are flawlessly satisfying. The visual backdrop of fast-motion blossoming roses is perfectly cryptic and somber. She sings, “Flowers in my head / Flowers always in bloom,” a solid Kurt Cobain homage from a band who exemplifies 90s alternative grime allegiance.
Be sure to check out their previous music (EP Always Cherry and full-length album Sweet & Low) on Bandcamp, and follow them on Facebook and Instagram to stay informed on future releases.
