THE CAVVES - “NOISE WILL BE NOISE”
Self-Released - Mar. 3rd, 2020.
Video directed by Chrim Ruck Cartoons.
“ The Cavves’ charming music video for their track “Noise Will Be Noise” is something I wish I had watched when I was young. Cleverly styled illustrations created by Chrim Ruck paired with head-bopping instrumentation paint the screen with a message every man who wouldn’t leave her alone at the bar and every little girl watching morning cartoons needs to see. Every little girl needs to listen to the heavy guitar, playful keyboard, and words of wisdom telling them it’s okay to say “I’m by myself, but I feel right at home.” And every man needs to watch the colorful pretty pictures, and catchy beat, wash over them and learn that “boys will just be boys” is not a valid excuse anymore (it never was).
Quite possibly the cutest scene is the band backing these messages of self-reliance. Made up of a dog shredding on guitar, and alligator on drums, and a turtle playing keys, the band rocks and rolls with engaging hooks. The turtle comes into the spotlight for a little turtle keyboard solo, showing everyone can overcome the noise and summon the courage to come out of their shell.
Overall, the music video takes on an innocent medium to clearly send a much-needed message: “Noise will just be noise.” Maybe after making this point so clear, boys will finally know when to SHUT UP. Women are done listening and ready to tell them to SHUT UP. Venture out. Repeat after me: “I can walk myself home.”
