SINGLE REVIEW :: DYLAN PYLES - "New Orleans On The Day You Died"
Dylan Pyles - “New Orleans On The Day You Died”
Released via Manor Records on January 10th, 2020.
Apart of the upcoming album “Evil Music For An Ugly World” out later this year.
“A jangling guitar with a lo-fi glow around it lives in perfect harmony with Dylan Pyles melancholically-sweet vocals on his latest single. Though short in its runtime, “New Orleans On The Day You Died,” uses every moment to examine details with care, taking us on a journey through the streets of the Big Easy. Drinking a Coors Light (because what beer is better enjoyed when mourning?), we encounter ignored musicians, screaming prophets, and suffering poets. Pyles is one of the most intelligent songwriters currently putting out music; he can sing a philosophical lyric and it’s never hoity-toity or over our head. What grounds the track is his earnest delivery and sincere sadness. “It doesn’t make sense, it makes perfect sense/I’d be lying if I said I didn’t understand.” The whole world can go to hell all at once, but a brief wandering or meditation or maybe a cold one can start to bring some clarity.”
