The Wild Type - “Not Tonight Josephine”
Here’s what Nathan had to say about the new track and video ::
“There’s a sunset glow that follows Rachel Mallin at the beginning of the “Not Tonight Josephine” video. A warmth surrounds her in the familiar confines of the West Bottoms as she strolls around. There’s not an aimlessness here though. It seems she’s waiting and possibly searching in that evening air. But pretty soon there’s literally something following her; a mystery man (shout-out to the homie John Anthony) that suddenly turns that fading sunshine into a neon nightmare. As Mallin finds a mode of escape in a sweet wood-panel convertible, the synth pop dials up a notch and suddenly two angelic boxing gloves cross her path. She could run, but why not fight? The two tussle and a bloody brawl ensues. Mallin have bested her blindfolded adversary until he strikes back. She’s down for the count as her opponent stalks off into the illuminated smoke. That’s when Mallin gives us a haunting, oozy grin. How long has this battle actually lasted? Will it ever end? Equal parts David Lynch and Nicholas Winding Refn, “Not Tonight Josephine” is a gorgeous short. The color so vibrant and camera work terrifically dynamic you can feel your skin sizzle with the heat radiating from the song. Spooky and dreamy in the best ways."
