VAGUE DAYS - “DAYS SLIP BY”
“
“St. Louis sadboi, Vague Days, created one hell of a xanax day dream for his first music video, directed by Keely Flanagan, and new release of “Days Slip By”. This reverb-filled, chord-drenched love hangover has consistent purple lighting to shine our way through the all too familiar void created by a lost companion. The dismal lyrics are brilliantly combined with glittering party decorations as a visually exhausted Brendan bears his way through various celebrations without any excitement, because who can feel something like that while there is such a large part of you missing? Lost in his own loss, his lyricism shines with my personal favorite line of the song: “don’t make a sound, I’ve been looking for memories to lose.” Whether it was intended or not, the way feelings of “days slipping by” was portrayed felt incredibly pertinent to the passing of time during the pandemic. As pages from a calendar are fed into a paper shredder, I couldn't help but relate in countless ways. With so much going on in the world right now, the time seems to pass with unrecognizable speed and an incredible amount of feelings, much like this song. The cinematography for “Days Slip By” is very well done with gentle double exposures and the blurriness, use of mirrors and zoom really suit the style and aesthetic of Vague Days. Overall, a delightfully bleak and authentic first music video for an artist to keep on your radar for future releases!”
