Blanky - "Freedom"

BLANKY - “FREEDOM”

“Freedom” was shot by Max Smith, Anthony Cunard, Courtney Stoddard and Edward Madill.

It takes about ten seconds before the new music video from Lawrence’s Blanky for “Freedom” to become a Lynchian nightmare. The stop-motion spookiness of a melting child simmers with the buzzing guitars and howling vocals. We then follow another character (possibly an older, yet similarly-fated version of the child?), first smoking at a table, before admiring the portraits of Blanky themselves (with cameos of the trio’s own lips singing through them). The camera jerks abruptly and focus shifts in an unnatural manner leaving the audience off-kilter like the skulking stop-motion protagonist. Tears slide down their face and then their actual face slides off. And once they’ve left the confines of their appropriately haunting house, they begin to melt as well. An unnerving video to match a bone-chilling track.

A literal slow burn.
