Graveyard Party’s latest single, Lady Lazarus, was a hauntingly appropriate release for Halloween! Showing off their mastery of darkness and grunge, their distant vocals and spooky lyrics are exactly what I had hoped for -- and I was not left disappointed. Sounding like The Cranberries covering a Nirvana song, Graveyard Party brings the glam back to grunge with their carefully crafted larger than life aesthetic. “Black coals fill the sky and yellow in her eyes,” they sing as the heavy guitar paints a soundscape not too dissimilar from the Hex Girls (the witchy band in that one Scooby Doo movie). Full of fun and festive imagery, this song rocks out to a fever dream of full moons, wicked grins, and a hair-raising red headed woman whose whispers are delivered by the breeze. Is that a wolf howling in the background or have we fallen under the spell of Lady Lazarus? Check it out and show this Oklahoma-based band some love!
