“‘HDF’’s entrancing harp-like introductory beat seems to echo all around an empty restaurant kitchen as we begin our journey into Ebony Tusk’s first release with High Dive Records. Soon, the apprehensive techno-inspired beat has you on the edge of your seat as you follow a man with a cut on his face leading a group with assorted injuries out to the alleyway. The anxious visuals of another man addressing the small crowd are interrupted by single head-on shots of them highlighting their broken bones, bruises and cuts. These physical wounds are not too dissimilar to those internal scars we gather while struggling our way to what we can only hope is prosperity. These visuals work to emulate the lyrics of this latest release which focus on the struggles faced as we scrape and crawl our way to the top, and if this is any indication for the future Ebony Tusks will be a name to keep an eye out for these next few years.”
